We All Want Safe Drinking Water! But Is Bottled Water The Answer?

The benefits of drinking water, are of course widely publicised these days, and as people become more aware of the hundreds of hazardous chemicals in city water supplies they are turning in droves to bottled water. But is bottled water actually going to supply us with safe drinking water? Is bottled water actually pure water?

Bottled water is a multi-billion dollar business! It is the fastest growing division of the entire beverage industry... and the most profitable! Explosive growth in the industry for more than a decade has placed bottled water in nearly every supermarket, convenience store and vending machine from coast to coast, where dozens of brands compete for consumers' dollars. It is reported that sooner or later bottled water will become one of the US’s top selling beverages, second only to soda pop. But what are the facts on Bottled water? Is it really any better than tap water?

Clever advertising tactics make us believe that bottled water comes from a natural mountain spring when in fact, some bottled water is purified by distillers or reverse osmosis, and as much as 40% of bottled water is nothing but tap water.

"Companies that promote bottled water as being safer than tap water are defrauding the American public."
U.S. FDA

"Therefore, while much tap water is indeed risky, having compared available data, we conclude that there is no assurance that bottled water is any safer that tap water."
Natural Resources Defence Council report

About 60% of all bottled water is bottled and sold within the same state, therefore exemplifying it from FCA's bottled water standard. It is only when the water crosses state lines that the Federal regulation on the quality of bottled water applies.

Public concern over city water supplies and clever marketing ploys, designed to convince people of the purity and safety of bottled water has driven millions of people to spend from 240 to over 10,000 times more per gallon for bottled water than they typically do for tap water.

The easiest, most cost efficient method of taking the worry out of drinking water from your tap is to install a water filtration system. Simply by attaching a water filter to your tap, a whole house water filter or reverse osmosis system, you will have an unlimited supply of pure, safe, worry free water for less than a penny per gallon.
