When we shower with chlorinated water, we are essentially exposing our skin to a relatively large volume of a diluted chlorine solution. High THM concentrations have been linked to cancer and other reproductive problems after long-term exposure.

Especially with hot showers, the chlorine (naturally in gas form) will evaporate out of the water and the inhaling steamy chlorinated shower vapors and enter our body through the open pores of the skin. Chlorine also attacks the skin and skin oils, creating a dermal drying effect.

The myth of active carbon and KDF

Even though both carbon and KDF are excellent ways to remove chemicals and chlorine CaSo3 is ten times more effective than active carbon. Shower water volume is big for daily usage. The same gram (100g) of active carbon, KDF and CaSo3: active carbon and KDF saturate with chemicals much sooner. CaSo3 can be used for at least 12 months.

When taking a shower, chemicals and heavy metals do not hurt skin as much, but chloroform can be absorbed through inhalation or the skin. Calcium Sulfite has much better and safer results than the KDF for heavy metal filtration materials. Many factories use active carbon and KDF because of the cost concern.
